It first began as a simple brush arbor across the road; but as Fall approached, they realized the need for a more permanent building. This church was constructed from the native sycamore logs cut and hauled by local residents.

The most famous person to preach at the Sycamore Log Church was Reverend Guy Howard, "The Walkin' preacher of the Ozarks".

The 1901 Morgan County Church, rebuilt at the Shepherd of the Hills in 1990, was purchased from the original congregation in Morgan Missouri. Since that time, many weddings have been celebrated in the beautiful and unique church. Antique pews, wooden floors and simple architecture reflect the historical spirit of the building.
