Centennial Bridge Cottage Grove Oregon

Centennial Bridge
The bridge was constructed in 1997 by volunteer labor to celebrate Cottage Grove's Centennial. Materials came from two Lane County bridges that had been demolished. It rests on abutments of the old Main Street Bridge, which stood until the 1950's.

Bridge

Lowell Covered Bridge

The Lowell covered bridge was built in 1945 to replace an existing covered bridge. At that time, the bridge spanned a free flowing stream.

In 1953, the dam and reservoir were built and the bridge was raise six feet. Over the years, heavy logging truck traffic damaged the wooden truss members, and in 1981 the bridge was closed when a new concrete span was built.

Finally in 2005, work to rehabilitate the bride began, A dedication ceremony in 2006 opened the bride and new interpretive center to visitors.

Bridge

Stewart Covered Bridge
Built in 1930 and restored in 1996, this structure has semi-circular portal arches, ribbon openings at the eaves, and decorative S-curve brackets. The deep water below the bridge is considered one of the best swimming holes in the county.
